1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 400 / 4-Speed W72 Performance 🔵 Martinique Blue
This is the kind of Trans Am that stops people in their tracks. A true 1978 W72 400ci 4-speed car — the top dog drivetrain combo for that year — finished in one-year-only Code 24 Martinique Blue, one of the rarest and most desirable colors ever sprayed on a T/A. Most collectors will go their entire lives without seeing one of these in the wild, much less one as clean and documented as this.
This car was previously part of the St. Louis Museum collection, and underwent a restoration between the late ’90s and mid-2000s. The paint still shines beautifully, the factory-styled decals were replaced to emulate the Y88 version but in 5 shades of blue they are crisp and properly placed, and the car retains its numbers matching 400 V8 and Borg Warner 4 speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter, a dream combo for Pontiac purist.
Loaded with the W72 Performance Package, this Trans Am came factory-built to move, delivering extra horsepower and a tighter suspension setup. We enhanced the stance and period-correct look with a set of freshly mounted 15x8 Snowflake wheels, cleaned her up inside and out, and now she’s ready to roll. The air conditioning blows cold, the radio has been upgraded from stock in the past with a pioneer with CD player (nowadays considered vintage LOL)
