This is the FIRST Trans Am 10th Anniversary 4 Speed  built by Pontiac Van Nuys plant in CA and according to paperwork notarized by the lady that bought it new at the dealer the actual Pace Car delivered to Daytona Speedway for the 22nd Daytona 500 mile race.

 Pontiac Historian and NFTAC Tech Advisor John Witzke listed the vin numbers of this cars (see article below) . Pontiac only built 1,817 units like this, being the first one built in Van Nuys Vin# 2X87Z9L130778, which is this very same car we are offering today. Also you should know that 1979 was the last year Pontiac offered the 400 ci block , which was a true Pontiac engine, not an Oldsmobile, and was only available with manual transmission cars.

The history behind this car is amazing and the amount of documentation is overwhelming. This Trans Am as explained by Mrs Joyce, former owner of this car, was the Demo car not only used in most of the advertising for the new Limited edition Trans am 10th anniversary, she explained that this was the actual car that was on the circuit on February 18 1979, even  the ticket ticket for the box seats for the race day comes with the car. Mrs Joyce  was kind enough to provide a notarized letter explaining the purchase of the car back in 79 from Mcnamara Pontiac in Orlando, FL , just scroll down and  you will be able to read it . This car went into an extensive show quality restoration for over a decade, the restoration was done sourcing all the parts from Pontiac (all invoices are included), we can say the the paint job in this car is one of the best we have seen, receipts for exterior work  in excess of $12k, it is top quality, all the sheet metal appears intact including the factory pinch welded rear quarters, rust issues are not to be seen in this car. The interior was also redone and is show quality, everything works , even  the power antenna that  usually stopped working soon after you purchased  models with this option, this one works! all power options work as it should,  engine bay is also detailed and is perfect show quality , underside is as good as the top, you can put mirrors on the floor to admire the impeccable undercarriage. Car has only around 48k original miles and looks, but few dozen miles drive since restored. Drives and smells like new. In a nutshell this is a car that has a high historical value, it comes extremely well documented with a huge file of documents, including 2 original build sheets, PHS window sticker, original purchase documents showing the car was a dealer demo, all the registrations and titles from day one (always a Florida car) , photos of restoration and original factory owners manuals and brochures, don't miss this one!
