 Up for sale super rare 1973 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty 455 4 speed. For those who are not familiar with the SD series lets start with facts: June 28 1972 Pontiac announces 455 ci Super Duty  will be produced. Only 72 Trans Ams mated to a 4 speed Transmission were produced that year, not many left for sale anywhere being so rare. Hagerty rates a condition #1 1973 TA SD at $205,000.00  this year  this particular car is possibly a #2 which is valued at $152,000.00, check it out at  https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vbe=5231

Super Duty engines were coded ZJ and W8 for manuals and XD and Y8 for automatics. This is a ZJ code engine and is Matching numbers, the Super Duty  HEADS were responsible of the tremendous horse power that this one of kind engine engine produced, they were derived from RAM AIR IV heads but whit  better airflow, the exhaust valves were made of Iconel 751 steel, a material developed to withstand High temperatures of jet turbine blades. SD blocks were reinforced with additional webbing in the main bearing and lifter bore areas, this was to give extra strength to the whole racing-like engine. This  engines were underrated from factory to pass emissions, it is very well known that by opening up the block off plate to allow  fresh air flowing trough the  scoop (which was left sealed to pass noise pollution new regulations) you would get this engine to push close to 400 Hp.

This car also 1 of only 72 Trans Ams with 4 Speed Muncie , baptized due to it's noise nature as "rock crusher" . This was a close ratio 4 speed with Hurst Shifter. Rear for manual transmission cars was 3:42  ratio. Dual exhaust, of course.

This is an original 80k mile extremely well preserved car, always garaged, painted 1 time in the 90's, hood bird option Trans am (first year that was available), as far as interior goes this car is nicely loaded with power windows, am/fm radio and 8 track cassette player, very nice original interior with no cracks in dash .

You will probably wont come cross a manual transmission SD in your lifetime, this is the first one we have ever had for sale, opportunities like this are a rare event.
