1977 Special Edition Trans Am

1977 was a year
full of events, among them Jimmy Carter becomes the thirty-ninth
U.S. President, Rock & Roll pioneer Elvis Presley dies in Memphis,
Hollywood releases are Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the
Third Kind, George Lucas' classic Star Wars, and the disco-crazed
Saturday Night Fever.
But I'm sure
that unless you lived under a rock you did not miss Smokey and the
Bandit, the Bandit (Burt Reynolds) insists on driving a blocker
car......a 1977 Trans Am SE--for the Kenworth truck that the Snowman
(Reed) hauls the beer in.
Well, if you
are one of those that was too young to drive and always dreamed
about owning a Black Trans Am or if you already were in highschool
and you had one back then, and now mid-life crisis has assaulted
you,
this is your
opportunity to own a real 1977 Trans Am
Special Edition.
In 1977 Trans
Ams featured a new look, and of course Pontiac had a winner on their
hands. Out of almost 70,000 cars produced
only 13,706 were
Y82 code (Special Edition) So, as you can see, Special Editions
were very limited in production .
The Special
Edition appearance package ( some called them Bandits, unofficially)
included steering wheel with gold spokes, and the instrument panel
bezel and console trim plate in gold, and door accents being
finished in a gold simulated engine turned applique, on the exterior
gold trimmed appointments, Gothic German letters, gold pin stripping
and gold birds on hood and sail panels, and gold accent grilles
completed the package.
Exterior:
This
True Special Edition has a new
base clear coat black paint job, no dents or scratches, and is in
perfect condition. There are new Special Edition decals and pin
stripping on the exterior. This paint job looks 10-times better
than what it did back in 1977. The reflection on this car is
unbelievable. All of the body panels line up like they should. The
original snowflake rims were refinished and look like new. Tires are
plenty of life. The Hurst T-tops are in excellent shape and you will
also find the original Hurst covers in the trunk. No expense was
spared on the exterior of this car. Just take a look at the photos
below to see what I mean. Not only is this car a head-turner, but
it is also a jaw-dropper. You will be the envy of you State
driving this car down the road.
Interior:
Tan interior in
excellent shape. The seat were professionally recovered and look
great. The carpet is still in great shape with no stains or rips or
wear patterns. The headliner is not sagging at all. The center
console and door panels are also in great shape. This Tan interior
really makes this car stand out. I think this interior really sets
off the Black exterior of this car. There are no broken pieces
anywhere in this interior and is still in excellent condition. The
dash was covered with a dash pad since had a small crack on it. The
car has a very nice CD player on the place the 8 track was
installed, I have the 8 track and we will include it with the car.
Mechanical:
This 1977
Pontiac Trans Am is equipped with the Pontiac 400 and automatic
transmission. The engine runs great and does not burn or leak any
oil. The acceleration is smooth and powerful. The transmission
also functions just like the engine. It doesn't make any noise and
shifts smooth. It shifts smooth and really complements the smooth
acceleration of the engine. All of the other mechanical features
work like they should. The brakes do wonders for stopping this car
incase you see an officer drive by. The air conditioning works
great and blows cold air. I always hate to see a restoration
project and they don't spend that extra money to get the AC working.
This car was done right and no option was overlooked. Doors close
tight with no sagging. The car drives tight and strong, and have
had no problems with this cars since in our possession. Email me
with any questions.
We are dealing
with Trans Ams 2nd Generation and we are proud to offer the best
examples that are still out there.
